Békemenet - peace march by the ruling Fidesz party

Once a year the ruling Fidesz party in Hungary organizes a “march for peace” where they celebrate themselves as the great force for peace in Europe. This narrative has picked up ahead of the european elections that take place on june 9. All kinds of support for Ukraine are dismissed as aggressive attempts to prolong the war. Obviously the peace they mean is one at the expense of the Ukrainian people and their arguments are simply kremlin talking points. But followers of the party are unquestioning in their support of prime minister Viktor Orban.
