A generational struggle

Luetzerath used to be a small village in western Germany. Eventually it was destroyed to make space for Lignite mining. Before that young activists engaged in a standoff with the mining company and police which culminated in January 2023.

Luetzerath was a symbol for a much wider struggle between the old generations and the new, it was a turning point for some, the proof that old people don’t care, the opportunity to show the younger generations how to behave…
